Perfect for Freezing
Perfect for freezing for future smoothies, jam, or desserts
Blueberries have a natural protective coating known as bloom. You’ve probably noticed this waxy, somewhat cloudy coating on your own berries. Blueberries produce the bloom to protect against pests and bacteria, but it is also naturally nonstick! Do not rinse the blueberries before freezing or you’ll remove the coating and have to dry, dry, dry the berries before freezing to prevent sticking. Just simple rinse frozen berries before use.
Ingredients
- 3 cup blueberries
- 2 cup earl grey tea (or 473ml, brewed for 5 mins)
- 1/4 cup raw honey
- 1 tbsp lemon juice
Place all ingredients in a saucepan on high heat and bring to a boil.
Reduce the heat to a simmer and cook for 40-50 mins.
Use a hand blender or standing blender to pulse until smooth or a little chunky (or you can leave as is).
If you forget your sauce and the liquid has completely disappeared. Just brew a cup of earl grey tea, cool and pulse the leftover jam together with the liquid to increase the amount.
